Turkish Velvet Cushions

These cushions are made from Uzbek silk velvet ikat. Threads are dyed before being woven on narrow weave looms by a technique known as abrband - translated as 'tying a cloud'. Abrband velvet has been woven for centuries in the Ferghana Valley, making its way along the Silk Road to Istanbul where it was a favourite textile of the Ottoman Sultans.

Cushions are available for sale and cost $75-$150 depending on size.
