Alex Allardyce was born in Scotland in 1957 and studied art and architecture at Edinburgh College of Art and Glasgow School of Art.  Enjoying painting for as long as he can remember, Alex won his first award at the age of 16.

Alex lived in London where he was a practicing architect, chaired a community charity and was author of the award winning book, 'The Village that Changed the World'. It was also in London where he met his Bermudian partner and now husband.

Alex now lives in Bermuda which informs most of his current subject matter.  He paints with acrylic on canvas and reduction linocut prints. The colour of buildings, shadows and vegitation, combined with their sculptural forms in Bermuda's particular light has been a strong source of inspiration for his recent work.
